Welcome to Advocates Paying Advocates—a platform where frontline advocates, activists, and changemakers can share, sell, and circulate the tools we create to make our work easier and more sustainable.

These terms explain what you're agreeing to when you upload or sell content on this site. Our goal is clarity, fairness, and mutual respect.

By becoming a Creator, you agree to the following terms.

1.  WHAT YOU CAN UPLOAD

Permitted Content

You may share:

•       Templates, protocols, guides, toolkits, and training materials

•       Materials you've created or co-created, and have the full right to share and sell

Prohibited Content

You may NOT share:

•       Copyrighted materials you don't own or have permission to distribute

•       Content that promotes harm, hate, violence, or misinformation

•       Content that violates our Content Moderation Policy or Community Guidelines

2.  COMMISSION STRUCTURE & REVENUE SHARING

Membership Tiers & Commission Rates

Your commission rate depends on your membership tier:

Tip Jar: You keep 100% of tips with no platform commission. Only payment processing fees apply to tips.

Payment Processing Fees

All payments are processed through Stripe, which charges approximately 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction. These fees are deducted from the total sale before commission is calculated. This is industry standard for digital marketplaces.

Example: On a $27 sale as a Free Creator: Stripe fee (~$1.08) is deducted first, leaving $25.92. Your 85% = $22.03. Platform 15% = $3.89.

3.  PAYOUT TERMS

Payout Requirements

To receive payouts, you must:

•       Complete Stripe's identity verification process

•       Provide valid banking information

•       Maintain accurate account information

4.  LICENSING & CREDIT

Your Ownership

•       You retain full copyright ownership of your original work.

Promotional Use

•       You may opt out of promotional features by contacting us.

Removing Your Content

•       Removal will be processed within 7 business days of your written request.

5.  CONTENT REVIEW & APPROVAL

All products require admin approval before publication. We review all resources to ensure they:

•       Do not promote harmful, unethical, or illegal activity

•       Meet quality standards for accuracy, completeness, and professionalism

Approval Timeline:

•       Pro Creator: 24 hours (priority)

•       Organization: Same-day (VIP priority)

We reserve the right to refuse or remove content that doesn't align with these values. For details, see our Content Moderation Policy and Document Upload Approval Policy.

6.  YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Creator, you agree to:

•       Confirm that you have the legal right to sell all materials you upload

•       Respond to platform communications within 5 business days

•       Update us promptly if you need to change or remove a resource

•       Maintain accurate payout and contact information

•       Report and pay all applicable taxes on your earnings

•       Follow all platform policies, including the Community Guidelines

7.  REFUNDS & BUYER DISPUTES

•       We encourage creators to provide accurate, detailed descriptions to minimize disputes

•       Excessive refunds or chargebacks may result in account review

8.  VIOLATIONS & ACCOUNT ACTIONS

We reserve the right to:

•       Withhold payouts in cases of copyright disputes or fraud investigations

•       Suspend accounts pending investigation of reported violations

•       Permanently terminate accounts for repeat or severe violations

Our Process:

• Warning: First violations typically receive a warning and opportunity to correct
• Suspension: Temporary suspension for serious or repeat violations
• Termination: Permanent account closure for severe or continued violations
  • You are responsible for determining and paying all applicable taxes on your earnings
  • If you earn more than $600 USD in a calendar year, you may receive a Form 1099-K from Stripe
  • We may update these terms as the platform grows

We'll always try to resolve issues fairly and communicate openly. You may appeal decisions by emailing appeals@advocatespayingadvocates.com.

9.  TAX RESPONSIBILITIES

As an independent business owner selling on the Marketplace:

•       You may need to report earnings to federal, state, and local tax authorities

•       The Marketplace does not withhold taxes from your payouts

We strongly recommend consulting with a qualified tax professional regarding your specific tax obligations. The Marketplace cannot provide tax advice.

10.  CHANGES TO THESE TERMS

•       We will notify you of any material changes via email at least 30 days before they take effect

•       Changes will also be posted on the Marketplace with the updated effective date

•       Continued use of the platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance
